Information Sharing
Michigan Press Association has
created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm
commitment to privacy. The following discloses our
information-gathering and dissemination practices for this Web site for
the Michigan Press Association at www.michiganpress.org.
Michigan Press Association values your privacy and has developed this
privacy policy so that you will know how information about you is
received and used.
This Web site collects only voluntarily
submitted information about individual users. Our ISP may record your
DNS location, but only for the purpose of improving service. Other
information that our ISP may collect includes your browser type (e.g.,
Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox), your platform (e.g., a
Mac running OS X), and possibly the last URL visited before coming to
our site. That information, if collected, is aggregated and no specific
data can be linked to an individual user. Under no circumstances does
Michigan Press Association collect any information about individual
visitors without permission.
This Web site does allow
visitors to provide us with information about them. MPA offers help
wanted and Bulletin listservs, which are controlled by our Design and
Technology coordinator, Malia Moren.
MPA never reveals the name or e-mail address of individuals who
subscribe to the MPA Free Member Exchange Listserv or the Bulletin
Listserv. The MPA Web site allows visitors to provide us with their
name, address, business telephone number and other personal information
in order to help you find a job or to register for conventions. This
information is voluntarily provided, and will NOT be shared with any other organization without your prior consent.
Cookies
This site uses text files called cookies to better serve visitors. Only
the information that you provide, or the choices you make while
visiting a Web site, can be stored in a cookie. For example, a site
cannot determine your e-mail name unless you choose to type it (The MPA
site cookie does not
collect e-mail information). Allowing a Web site to create a cookie
does not give that or any other site access to the rest of your
computer, and only the site that created the cookie can read it. The
information stored in the MPA cookie is limited to whether you have
visited before and whether you have member privileges, so that we can
point out services to new visitors. You can visit the MPA site with your cookie function turned off. For more information about cookies, look in the help file of your browser under 'cookies.'
JavaScript Forms
The MPA Web site has several JavaScript forms for use by the public.
JavaScript is a powerful programming tool that allows forms to function
without benefit of CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts that require
information to be sent to our server. When a user fills out a
JavaScript form, the data provided is sent to us in the form of an
e-mail message. Correct/Update
This site gives users the following options for changing and modifying information previously provided.
