Internships: A Bridge to Careers. Internships in journalism are vital links between college majors and courses
and professional opportunities of the work world. They are of great value to
both Michigan students and news organizations. While they can be part of a student's total academic experience, internships
are not jobs per se. Rather, they are learning opportunities having direct
relationships to the student's study and career interests. Nearly every Michigan college and university offers students opportunity to
gain academic credit by completing a supervised experience. And although
internship requirements and options may vary, the people essentially
involved include the student, an academic internship coordinator and a field
supervisor at a particular news organization. Journalism internships include opportunities with a varying list of
newspapers and news outlets (daily, weekly and occasional) and departments
(editorial, advertising, photography, online, circulation and business). This Internship Bank is intended to create bridges between high-achieving
students and MPA members. News outlets seeking interns: Please click on the above Submit New Listing
